QUESTION: Exactly why do our elected Barnstable County Commissioners have reserved parking spaces located directly in front of the Superior Court House entrance when in fact they rarely hold meetings there more than once a week? ANSWER: To a certain degree, the allocation of private and reserved parking spaces for the three county commissioners has no practical purpose or inherent legitimate reason. It is simply employed as a type of undeserved status symbol designed for the sole purpose of elevating these county officials in grandiose stature, aristocratic social class and imperial prominence above all others.

Martha's VineyardOctober 11, 2011, 6:29 pm
We will also be spending the day on Friday (October 14) on Martha's Vineyard where we have a car as well. (I forgot to say that in my previous post about things we "must do" on Cape Cod.) Thank you so much. Lori

Must Do's of Cape Cod????October 11, 2011, 6:25 pm
Hi Native Cape Codders! My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Cape Cod this weekend. Unfortunately, we will only be there on Saturday and Sunday October 15 and 16th. We are wondering what are some of the things that you think every tourist should do/see? We are both active and we do not like museums. What is Cape Cod known for? Neither of us has been there before. What are the things you think every tourist should experience on your land? We will have a car, so we are not limited in that respect. We will drive anywhere on the Cape. Thank you so much! :) Lori

Does your family own/operate a restaurant?July 20, 2010, 11:20 am
Do you and your children all pitch in to help out? MTV is looking for families who own and run their own local restaurants. The bigger the family, the better. We'd like restaurants where the entire family is involved in the business from managing and hosting to cooking and serving. If your family is close-knit, outgoing and full of personality, please send an email to with your name, location, and names and pictures of your entire family. Please give us some background about the restaurant, including how long the family has owned it, who does what at the restaurant, and how much time is spent there on average.

Looking for space to set up my yurtMarch 2, 2010, 9:23 pm
Greetings Cape Cod from snowy Vermont! I am hoping to find a place to set up my yurt so I can be closer to my dad who lives not too far away from the Cape. My ideal situation would be to find a quiet spot on someone's property where I could lay out the yurt platform, and erect my yurt. I can pay to rent the space, and also barter for any landscape work/gardening, or chores. I am a web developer and my business travels where I go, so if you need web work I may be able to help there or barter that, as well! I have references, I am amicable, well-educated and friendly. Reply and I can get you my number. Ideas welcome, too!

Seeking roommate to split expensesMay 21, 2009, 9:15 am
I am a recent graduate from Bryant University. I have successfully secured a job in my field located in Hyannis/Barnstable area with a start date of June 8. I am seeking a roommate to split expenses. I do not have a place to live yet, so if you already have the rental that would work too.

Looking for RecipeJune 14, 2008, 7:43 pm
I am looking for a recipe which my Grandfather, Robert George Butler, had published in a Cape Cod Cookbook, in either the 70s or 80s. We knew it as TarPaper Cake, but that was not the name used for publishing. Our copy of the cookbook disappeared along with an entire box of cookbooks during a move.

Looking to exchange house sitting....August 22, 2007, 7:23 pm
Hello, I live in Maryland, 30 min from Baltimore or the heart of DC. I live in a very sought after neighborhood in a lovely 3 bdrm, 3 bath townhome. I love the Cape Cod area and would like to visit that area more often. I would be interested in exchanging homes for a few days just for a change of pace, at any time, if anyone is interested. I am looking for something in walking distance to the water. I am a professional single woman, age 50, and am very quiet and neat. Please call 240-723-6755. Thanks hope to hear from you. Patti
